Who publishes this, and on what terms
Robotaxi Database reports what US robotaxi operators file with their regulators, and nothing else. Every figure here comes from a filing a company made under a legal obligation, and every absence is a filing it did not make.
The standard every figure is held to
Four rules, applied without exception. They are why some pages here show less than a competitor's and why the ones that show a number can defend it.
A rate is a fraction, and the denominator is named. Crash counts are widely published; the mileage to divide them by is not. Where a divisor exists, this site names it, states its jurisdiction, and shows what share of the numerator it can honestly speak for. Where no divisor exists, no rate is shown — and the absence is drawn rather than filled in.
The numerator is clipped to the denominator’s territory before dividing. Federal crash reporting is national; the mileage a state publishes is that state’s alone. Dividing one by the other without the clip overstates the rate substantially, and it is the most common error in published robotaxi safety figures.
An absence is not a zero. A dash on this site means nothing was published. A zero means a company filed a zero. Those are different facts and they are drawn differently everywhere they appear.
Known problems are signed, not disclaimed. Each derived metric carries a ledger of what is wrong with it and which direction the error runs. A warning that data may be imperfect tells a reader nothing; a signed direction tells them how to read the number.
What this site does not cover
Stated plainly, because the gaps in a public record are as informative as its contents.
Only what is filed. A company’s own blog post, press release or safety report is not a filing and does not appear here as a figure.
Mileage exists for one state. Every other jurisdiction publishes crashes without exposure, so most operators on this site have a crash count and no rate. That is a fact about the public record, not about their safety.
Crash dates carry month resolution. The reporting instrument has no day field, so nothing here is dated more finely than the month it happened in.
Nothing here is an adjudication. A filed report is an allegation of an event, not a finding of fault, and no figure on this site assigns blame.
When a figure here is wrong
A corrections policy, because a source without one is asking to be trusted rather than checked.
Every figure on this site is reproducible from filings anyone can obtain. If one of them disagrees with the record, that is a defect and it will be fixed. Write to the address below with the page, the figure and what you believe it should be.
A correction that changes a published number is made in the data and noted on the page it affects. A correction that changes how a number is computed is made in the method, where the change is visible alongside the formula it altered. Nothing is silently restated.
The record is rebuilt as the regulators publish. Figures move when filings arrive, and recent months are marked as still accruing wherever they appear, because they will rise. The record on this site is current to .

Quote a figure with the scope printed beside it. Every number here is a number about a period, a jurisdiction and a population, and all three travel with it on the page. A rate lifted without them is a different claim from the one this site made.

Robotaxi Database is not written by, funded by, commissioned by or shown in advance to any company it reports on. No operator has a right of review over a figure here before it is published.
Company names, marks and vehicle imagery appear only to identify the companies whose filings are reported. No affiliation or endorsement is implied by any of them.
